From 1st April 2023 Tamworth Borough Council has mandated that all Hackney Carriage and Private Hire vehicle drivers must undergo training in Disability Awareness and also training that will allow drivers to spot the signs of Child Sexual Exploitation.

The foremost duty of the Council is to ensure the safety of the public who use taxis and private hire vehicles and this training will equip drivers to become much more confident in the service they provide for disabled passengers.

It will also provide drivers with the ability to spot the indicators of child sexual exploitation and guarantee that drivers will know how and when to report any concerns they have.

Existing drivers and new applicants will be required to undertake the training on initial application and every 3 years thereafter. Tamworth Borough Council have deemed that licences will not be renewed or issued until you can demonstrate you have completed the training and passed the relevant test.

When you have completed payment of £42 (£35+VAT) you will be redirected to a simple form to fill in. You need to enter your name as you’d like it to appear on your certificates.

You also need to select Tamworth in the box that asks about Licensing Authority.
